I lived in Kakisa about 12-15 years ago, and visited many times. Some Breathtaking moments sitting by the river watching nature.

Hello my name is Kathleen Vaisanen from Edmonton Alberta, my sisters and niece have just returned from Fort Simpson NWT. It was our first visit to Fort Simpson. Our mother's name is Florence Vaisanen (HARDISTY) and was born in Fort Simpson and moved to Edmonton, Alberta many years ago. She passed away peacefully October 26/2008. I want to extend our thanks to the town of Fort Simpson for there gracious and kind giving to the Vaisanen family at this difficult time. While our stay in Fort Simpson was a short one, we had the experience to see the people for there kindness and compassion. We cannot express enough thanks to our relatives for there profound support. Fort Simpson is just a beautiful place to visit, we hope to see it in the summer. I will now make Fort Simpson a place added to my list of vacation stops. Respectfully yours, the Vaisanen Family in Edmonton and Vancouver.

I really miss the Dehcho, and wish, almost daily that I was back. I miss my friends and the north. I was very proud of the work I did for the Dehcho and would love to be able to continue it, but for now the south is my home, but my heart will always be on the shores of the Mackenzie.

This web site has come a long ways since the conception days. It brought back many memeories just watching the slide show on the home page. I have taken it to the AFN level..., but I think the Deh Cho needs to be aware of the plans to shut off even more MacKenzie River water with the new "site C dam" that is proposed for the Peace River. In the 25 years I lived in Fort Simpson... one of the last memories I have is standing in the middle of the river at Rabbitskin and the water level at mid summer did not come up to my belly button. With this new dam they are proposing I would think that there will be much more collateral damage than the BC gov't is letting loose. I will always consider DehCho home and I miss Deh Cho!!!

I had the great privilige of working at DFN and gaining knowledge in working wih the staff. I commend these individuals in their committment to the process of looking out for our future. More acknowledgement of these people would go a long way in promoting ourselves as a whole. I am a mother of three and a full time student in the Bachelor of Education Program in Fort Smith. I feel that more support for our people pursuing an education is an integral part in promoting ourselves as a nation. Keep up the good work. Mahsi Cho!

I once lived in Fort Providence (late 60s and early 70s)- my husband taught school here. I really enjoyed your slide pictures. However, it would be nice if you put the names of the people on the picture. It has been a long time and I am sure the people I knew as well as myself have changed in their looks (as have I) - we are all a bit older now. Please say hello for me to everyone there, especially Jim Thom, Margaret Vandal & family, and all those who remember me. I adopted a son who is Dene - Scott. Bye for now. Brenda.

Just a reminder to update your website. There are employees listed on the site who are no longer employed by the DFN. Rosa Wright? I would like to know if there was anyone hired for the Resource Management Position? Keep up the good work.

Hello, My name is Leroy Begay and I'm a member of the Navajo Nation. I've always hear that we had relatives that speak our tongue to the north and just wanted to see exactly where this tribe was in relation to the white man's maps. Tribal history and oral history in any media would be appreciate since I like to learn all I can about Dene history. Leroy

I always enjoy visiting this website and check back often for news updates. I recently attended an Aboriginal E Connectivity Forum in Ottawa. During the forum there was an announcement of the launch of the VTAC(Virtual Tour of Aboriginal Canada) website. I was just interested to know if anyone has ever heard of it. You can check out this portal at this link it is very interesting and as aboriginal people we are encouraged to contribute.
